Oh I had grabbed the fillmore recordings already. In what has to be my most pathetic listening experience I decided I had to hear how 4-29 in 24/96 sounded in my pickup so I sat my 17 inch notebook computer on the passenger seat and connected it to the stereo system via the aux input. I was a little nervous that if I had to slam on the brakes the results would have been catastrophic Thankfully the 8 miles i drove that day were without incident and the truck rocked like never before.

you could spend 20-30 dollars (sorry, I can't quote the precise amount 'cos I'm from overseas!!!) for the forthcoming official release (Philadelphia '89) or get Charlie's stuff (via LLL) for free .............. no contest.

One thing that I like (amongst so many others) is the way that Charlie has found Pigpen's keyboard contributions and boosted them a little so you can hear him better. Not overkill, not too much (as in 'less' is 'more') but better than what we've had before. Of course, not confusing him with TC on 28th when, according to legend, Pig was too doused to continue and TC was dragged on stage to help out. Nice tale, if it's true ............ I was still in nappies (dypers?) so I don't know for sure ..........

I don't think any pre-'74 recording has Phil sounding as nice as these 71 Fillmore East shows from Charlie, especially the 24-bit.
